A Book Review

August 22nd, 2008 by Ivy

My Knit Spirit parody for Stories of the Third Wave is up here.  I also took part in Love Lines.

Hikari took sick and we’re praying for a good recovery.  It looks hopeful.

I have a new Local Yarn Shop.

I discuss the whole Jesus/Messiah issue and have the realization that the Tenach never told us to worship the Messiah.

I review a book called A I.Q. (Acheivement IQ) Moments by Stanley Bronstein.

My Ravelympics socks are done.

August 15th, 2008 by Ivy

My project for Ravelympics, Sock Put event is going well, but Secret of the Stole III starts today.  Can I do both?  Maybe.

In this episode I talk about the history, uses, and properties of silk.

Meditative Knitting

August 8th, 2008 by Ivy

Find knitting and spinning videos and a chance to win a spindle and roving on my blog.

Kimiko of the Tale Chasing podcast asked me to participate in a project to promote Playing for Keeps, and I did a parody of this podcast as well.

Bumper:  Yarnspinner of the Yarnspinner Tale’s podcast.

I talk about knitting as a form of meditation.  I answer a bit of listener mail.  I talk about closing my Etsy store and I put out another call to Prayer Team Candy.

Counting Rows

August 1st, 2008 by Ivy

This week I give you an update on my various projects.  I promised a short video on mirrored increases, and it’s already up.  I also talk about how to count rows and my disagreement with how it is normally done.

Finally, I mention Jane’s rather excellent blog post about the Messiah and how that relates to what she calls the phases of being a Christian.

How soon the end?

July 25th, 2008 by Ivy

This is a weird episode.  I look at a few pointers and signs and try to divine how soon the messiah will come.  I think it’s soon, but so has everyone who has tried to predict this since the time of Issiah.

Desiging your own knitwear

June 20th, 2008 by Ivy

I walk through the basic steps of designing your own knitwear, how to decide on a first project, what to consider, and what tools make this very easy for you.

Knitting graph paper can be found here.

The two books I recommend for temples are The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns and The Knitter’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns.  These let you plug in your stitch pattern and off you go.  For planning it’s also convenient to have The Knitter’s Handy Guide to Yarn Requirements.
